Property Investor information for: Sweden
Sweden is a long narrow country. In Europe, only Russia, Ukraine, France and Spain are larger than Sweden in terms of area. The distance from north to south is almost 1600 kilometres, which is equivalent to the distance from Malmö to Rome or from New York to Minneapolis. Sweden shares borders with Norway and Finland and since 1 July 2000 has also come closer to Denmark and the European continent through the opening of the Öresund bridge to traffic between Malmö and Copenhagen.
Sweden's geography is characterised by its long coastline, immensely beautiful countryside, dense forests, myriad lakes and extensive mountainous areas. More than half of Sweden's surface area is covered by forest - mainly coniferous with a rich fauna. Approximately 100 000 inland lakes enrich the countryside. Off the long coasts on the Baltic to the east and the North Sea to the west are tens of thousands of archipelago islands.
In Sweden you can try everything – from breathtaking parachute jumping and diving to charming, tranquil hiking, canoeing and cycle routes. More and more anglers from all over the world have begun to discover the variety of fishing possibilities in Sweden, for example sea fishing along the coasts, or fly-fishing in a cascading mountain stream. For those whose interests lie in art and culture, Sweden can offer a wide range of events of a high international standard.
