Property Investor information for: Serbia and Montenegro
Before the Balkan war of the early nineties, Montenegro was a chic and exclusive Mediterranean resort. The Sveti Stefan was synonymous with glamour and often frequented by the likes of Richard Burton and Sophia Loren.
Montenegro came through the war physically, if not economically, unscathed. It is easy to see why this small country was of such great appeal. Many centuries of association with Venice give the piazzas, bell towers and shaded walkways an Italian feel.
Budva, the picturesque walled city on the stunning Adriatic coast is one of the most popular resorts. The best beaches lie between the capital and Petrovac, another walled city. These attractions are starting to bring back the tourists, but there is some way to go before they reach pre-war levels. Many Germans and Italians, however, are already beginning to snap up some of the cheap and charming properties that are available.
There is also the prospect of EU entry in a few years which is expected to benefit the economy and property investment market further. There is every reason to believe that Montenegro will once again become a chic destination attracting a large number of visitors. This bodes very well for the property market. And with prices at their current level, Montenegro is a very interesting property investment opportunity.
