New figures from the government reveal that Spain is still the number one choice for overseas property investment. Sales of buy-to-let properties in the popular destination have continued to dominate despite new competition from eastern Europe.
Office for National Statistics figures place 27 per cent of British foreign investments in Spain, a total of �.62 billion pounds. The closest competition comes from old rival France which had 20 per cent of a market that has grown by 45 per cent in the past four years. Prices rose in Spain by 17.2 per cent last year as the country attracts property investors with its warm climate, good health facilities and stable currency that eastern European countries struggle to beat.
