Property Investor information for: Belize
This sliver of land wedged between Mexico and Guatemala, Belize is a relatively small country -- 280 km (174 m) long, and 109 km (68 m) wide at its broadest point. It might be small but it is perfectly formed. Within its borders, Belize probably has the greatest variety of landscapes, peoples, flora, and fauna of any country of its size.
Surprisingly, considering its location, Belize is an English-speaking country. Until 1981 Belize was a British colony and was formerly known as British Honduras.
Many coastal areas and islands are being developed into tourist resorts and luxury residential complexes. The more developed areas are already popular with North American visitors and Belize is increasingly attracting Europeans.
Both as a tourist destination and property investment opportunity, Belize is shaping up to be the next big thing in the Caribbean. With its natural attractions, climate and political stability, the fundamentals are certainly there.
